Bow

Silver mounted violin bow with an octagonal Pernambuco wood stick. The "stopped" Hill fitting, which is common for tortoiseshell frogs, consists of a pair of flats marking the frog area at the end of the handle. The frog is made of tortoiseshell, and silver is used overall for the ferrule, small heel plate and button. The slide, heel plate and the eye (with an additional silver ring) are made from mother-of-pearl. Silver wire wrapping and a black thumb leather that continues to the end of the handle, protect the octagonal handle. The face protecting the tip is made from mammoth. 'AM B' is branded onto the handle, underneath the frog.
