Transverse flute
The first of a pair of one-keyed transverse flutes, nominal pitch C. Probably violet wood. Eight joints, five of which are numbered alternate upper joints. Four ivory ferrules and cap. The ivory ferrules of this instrument are much narrower than those of the second of the pair, having approximately 1.0 cm width at joints and 0.5 cm width at foot. One gold key, mounted in a gold band with gold pivot pin and bush.The flap is flat and square and bears a monogram inscription 'L' surmounted by a crown.The touch is formed in a stylised shell design. Fixed iIvory stopper, rounded and surmounted by a gold ornament, the base a rosette of leaves, the boss an unopened composite flower. 14.5.47/263.1
