Transverse flute
Transverse flute, nominal pitch C. Boxwood. Four joints. String-lapped tenons. Ivory mounts. Four silver keys, with square, flat flaps and leather pads mounted on wooden blocks. Head joint has stamped inscription (which is not straight): ASTOR & Co/79/CORNHILL/LONDON; Upper joint, lower joint and foot joint all stamped: ASTOR & Co/LONDON; Each inscription has a unicorn’s head emblem directly beneath.
