Slide trumpet

Slide trumpet in F. Brass with silver plated mouthpiece receiver, ferrules, triple boss and bell garland. Slide on rear branch, operated by rod connected centrally to three braces. Rod has finger plate at the lower end and is connected to slide brace with a release bolt. Mouthpiece receiver, triple boss and bell garland have ornate embossed floral designs. In black wooden box with fur-effect lining. Box also contains a mouthpiece, four crooks and five tuning bits. Mouthpiece is heavy with a ridged shank. Tuning bits are curved and have ferrule at mouthpiece receiver with a round finger plate at each side. Each crook is once wound, one circular, others with straight sides. Inscription on band at top of bell garland: T. HARPER’S IMPROVED MANUFACTURED BY J. KOHLER. A cartouche at the front of the garland has inscription: Henrietta St./Covent Garden/London. Paper label inside lid of case has royal coat of arms with lion and unicorn, beneath which is printed: KÖHLER & SON,/Military Musical Instrument Makers/TO HER/MAJESTY’S ARMY & NAVY,/35, Henrietta Street, Covent Garden,/London
