Crotals
Two clusters of three iron crotals or pellet bells for a horse harness. Each bell has an integral ring that is joined by a single chain link to a central ring at the end of a leather strap. There are two holes in the upper half of each crotal, a slit in the lower half half, a rim around the greatest circumference about principal axis, and a single pellet. Each crotal also has a lobed design and the initials: 'G.W.' inscribed on its lower half. An old display label found with the bells is printed with the words 'Set of horse bells'. The bells are identical to Horniman Museum number: 33.128b.
