Frame drum; doira
Doira, single membrane frame drum. The frame of polished acacia wood (genus Acacia) is convex in profile. The cow hide membrane is glued to the outer surface of the frame, with the edge cut straight along the bottom rim. Brass plates are nailed to the inside of the lower rim and arranged in threes, each group with a wide plate at the middle and narrower plates at the sides. Small, metal rings are attached to the inside surface. Suspended from each one is a jingling metal ring.
