Transverse flute
Transverse flute. African blackwood (grenadilla). Five joints. Nickel silver-plated keys, ferrules and end cap. Eight keys, one missing. Keys are block mounted with saltspoon cups and leather pads. String lapped tenons. Head joint and upper joint stamped: HAWES/LONDON; an emblem, possibly of a lion, appears above the upper joint inscription.
