Transverse flute
Transverse flute. African blackwood (grenadilla) body with polish coating. Five joints. Brass keys and ferrules. Seven keys, block mounted with saltspoon cups and fish skin pads. Blocks turned away. Two keys with pewter plugs. Conical bore. String lapped tenons. Removable end cap with decorative finial. Inscription on upper joint is very faint but probably reads: POWELL/CIRENCESTER .
