Transverse flute; tenor flute

Transverse flute ('tenor'). Nominal pitch: G. African blackwood (grenadilla). Three joints. Silver keys and ferrules, hallmarked for 1820. Five keys, block mounted with circular flaps and leather pads. String lapped tenons. Ferrules embossed with repeating star pattern. Head joint and foot joint stamped: MONZANI & Co. with a crown emblem above. The word: PATENT; is also stamped on the foot joint with a crown emblem above. Body joint stamped: MONZANI & Co./28. REGENT St./PICCADILLY/LONDON/2034; Crown emblem stamped on key shanks. A paper label adhered to the body joint has in D.J. Blaikley's hand: 19 ...FLUTE/COCUSWOOD/5 KEYS/EARLY 19 C
