Banjo

Four-stringed zither banjo. Plastic head. Wooden inner rim on which twelve brackets are mounted for twelve screw tension rods (one broken) holding in place the metal tension hoop that that secures the plastic head. There is a metal plate cut in a stepped design at the base of each bracket. Metal tailpiece. Outer wooden rim and integral back with a button at the centre. The fingerboard has 19 metal frets, with a single mother-of –pearl position marker at the third and seventh frets, and a double position marker at the twelfth fret for the octave. Four pegs with plastic buttons. The sounding length is 560mm. (22in.) and the diameter of the head is 280mm. (11in.). Labelled: 'JOHN/GREY/ & SONS/LONDON' on the front of the headstock and 'R-M' (Rose Morris) on the back.
