Oboe

Oboe. Boxwood with nickel silver keywork. Three joints. String lapped tenons. Onion and cotton reel shape at top of upper joint. Seven block and saddle mounted keys with round and octagonal flat flaps with leather pads. Six tone holes, two of which are double. Two vent holes in bell. Each joint is stamped: W.MILHOUSE/LONDON; Paper label attached to upper joint has written in D.J. Blaikley's hand: OBOE/7 SILVER KEYS/LOWEST NOTE SPEAKS /FROM DOUBLE SIDED/HOLE IN BELL/EARLY
