Flageolet

French flageolet. African blackwood (grenadilla) or cocuswood with nickel silver-plated keys and ferrules. Four joints: wind distributor, sponge chamber, upper joint and lower joint. Mouthpiece missing. String lapped tenons. Keys are pillar mounted and have circular flaps with fish skin pads. Lower joint thumbhole bushed with nickel silver plate. Two paper labels on upper joint. One marked with the numbers 102, the other written in D.J. Blaikley's hand: 7. SINGLE/FLAGEOLET/(DUPLICATE OF 6) One of a matching pair with HM No.2004.895
