Fiddle; ghijak
Ghijak, fiddle. The bowl-shaped back is made of apricot wood, the soundtable of mulberry, with a vibrating stretched membrane beneath the soundtable made of reticulated python skin. A wooden soundpost is placed beneath the bass foot of the bridge, resting against a section of the soundtable that is cut out on three sides. This innovation was created by Shirali Jashem, who taught in Xinjian arts college. The instrument is tuned like a violin: G3, D4, A4, E5 (g,d',a',e'').
