Hourglass-shaped drum

Double membrane hourglass-shaped drum. The wooden shell with a narrow waist forming a central cylindrical section, while each end has a convex bowl-shaped profile. Hide membranes, each secured to a hoop of plaited string. These are looped over larger fabric-bound hoops that are tensioned with thin black cord laces, running parallel to eachother down the outside of the body. A lighter coloured cord is wrapped around the laces midway along the body.
