Double clarinet
M?kuti, snake charmer’s pipe, double clarinet. Two bamboo pipes of equal diameter and length, are set in parallel to eachother and bound near each end. The pipe to the player’s right has six fingerholes of unequal size on the front. The reeds at the proximal ends of both pipes are concealed within an oval gourd windcap. The stem of the gourd serves as a mouthpipe. The pipes are secured to the gourd with black wax, which has been spread across its surface to create a decoration of curved radial lines emanating from the tops of the pipes. The pipes are angled towards the player’s right.
