Oboe; suona
Suona, oboe. The body is of dark wood with a conical bore. The exterior is evenly scalloped along its length. Seven fingerholes and one thumb hole are positioned in the scalloped recesses. A brass disc with notches cut out around the rim sits at the proximal end of the body. The staple with two brass spheres is surmounted by a pirouette, which is loose and is attached to the lower disc by a metal chain. The reed is widely flared and is damaged. The brass bell has two copper bands, one at the top, the other, which is raised with a triangular profile, is positioned half way down. Above this middle band, the bell is conical with straight sides, below it has a slightly curved flare towards the plain rim. Hammer marks visible on all surfaces of bell, and a longitudinal seam runs down the back.
