English-system concertina. Flat rosewood ends, 6.12in/155mm across parallel sides, with bevelled edges and floral frets with pine backing. 48 buttons: 24 each side, ivory with dark accidentals, stamped and bushed. Round-end brass reeds. Five-fold green leather bellows with gilt floral/white papers splashed with gold paint, Rock Chidley label on one fold. Later leatherette straps with nickel screws. Oval paper label: 'Rock Chidley, Manufacturer, 135 High Holborn, London.' Serial number: 3224.
