Melodeon, diatonic button accordion. Black painted wood ends, 12.25x6in/311x152mm, with fancy embossed pallet area. Left-hand has a bell attached. Right-hand: 10 domed brass buttons, with double exposed pallets. Left-hand: 2 basses, one air button. 7-fold metal-edged bellows, with thick central fold; gaudy frame papers and black/gold fleur de Lys bellows papers. Left-hand strap fabric, right-hand strap leather. The recessed pallet board is embossed: 'DR patent no. 24110. Pat of Gt Britain, no. 4492'. Embossed metal plaque: 'Campbell's Broad Reed Melodeon, The Favourite, with patent double valves, sold only at 103 Trongate, Glasgow, patented July 1883'. Gold/black label: 'Victoria Metal Reeds'. Stops embossed: 'C & Co.' Finger Board embossed: 'The Favourite Melodeon, with new patent double visible valves. Prize medal, patented 1884'. Two Boar's Head trade mark plaques. No serial number.
