Concertina; bandoneon
Diatonic bandoneon. Ends 9x9.5in/229x241mm, covered with blue 'pearl' plastic and white plastic edging; chamfered corners are inlaid with metal. The ends are secured by chromed wing bolts. 64 pearl-tipped plastic buttons: right-hand 35, left-hand 29, plus chromed air lever working on a wire and sprung inner trapdoor. Steel reed tongues on thick zinc reed plates. 17-fold bellows, metal cornered and trimmed, with gold/red papers. Neck strap mounts on two thick folds. Left-hand strap original. Right-hand strap later, with buckled leather hand straps. Circular enamelled metal disc on right hand bar: 'DIX LANGSSHLIFF TONZUNGEN D.R.P.', with a picture of a reed. The air-valve grille has a fretted metal cover reading: 'UNIVERSAL'. Serial number: 116233.
