Double clarinet; pungi
Pungi, snake charmer’s pipe, double clarinet. Two parallel reed pipes of equal length are joined with black wax. The melody pipe to the player’s right has four round finger holes on the front and one thumb hole. The left pipe has two finger holes on the side and serves as a drong. The reeds at the top of each pipe are concealed by a gourd windcap. The gourd is oval, with a long, slightly curved stem, which acts as a mouth pipe. The pipes are secured to the gourd with black wax.
