Set of duct flutes
Calliope, set of ten duct flutes in the form of panpipes. A lightly varnished rectangular block of wood with ten internal pipes drilled out of one of the longer side faces. The top edge of this face is chamfered to form a wide beak. This chamfer is slightly angled and is deeper to the player's right. The tops of the pipes are plugged with blocks creating narrow ducts. Each pipe has a half-moon shaped mouth or window. The pipes are of graduated lengths. A paper label covers the whole of the front face below the mouths, it reads: 'CALLIOPE/PATENT APPLIED FOR'.
