Zhong with complex line design and S-shaped pattern (Bronze bell)

Generally well preserved. The bell has a few broken holes. Made of bronze, with green colour on the surface. The body of the bell is shaped like a combined pair of tiles. Lines in low relief are used as frames to define the central panel (zheng), the studs, the areas (zhuan) between the studs and the gu. The upper surface (wu) is flat and the two xian points are straight. There are 36 columnar long studs on the surface of the body. The mouth (yu) is curved. The end of the elliptic cylindrical handle (yong) is closed up. The raised collar (xuan) on the handle and the lug (xuanchong) attached to it are both quite small and narrow. There is a small square hole on one side of the wu. There are no decorations on the areas between the studs. S-shaped cloud patterns made up of multiple repeated lines decorate the centre of the gu. There are no decorations on the back of the instrument.
