Pitch pipe

Wooden pitch pipes like this one were used in 18th and 19th century churches that did not have an organ, to give the first note for a hymn. This pitch pipe consists in a pipe made of round wood stained walnut and a pitcher made of boxwood. The pipe has a pewter ring at the base with the letters I W M 1780 inscribed.
