Oboe

Ivory: 3 silver keys mounted in turned blocks: twin holes for Rl only: the C and right finger D sharp keys with ornately square covers; the left finger D sharp key with a round cover and touch: the bell mouth incurved: a simple baluster top; the reed socket very wide and expanding from the bore. A much altered and possibly composite instrument: the bell has been shortened considerably at the top, and the left hand section has been much shortened and perhaps re-turned, the two remaining finger holes being now at the back and plugged: at least one of the D sharp keys is not original and the "butterfly" touch-piece of the C key has been replaced by one of irregular shape.
