Contrabassophon
Dark brown stained wood; silver plated mounts and crook: the round flat key covers closing on faces turned up in the woodwork; the butt now formed as a metal tube replacing the original butt still associated with it: one of Morton's copies of Haseneier's instrument so called and in effect a contrabassoon of wide bore.
