Trumpet

In its present state a natural trumpet of brass throughout; originally a natural trumpet, later converted to a slide trumpet, and ultimately reconverted to its former state, probably for use as a fanfare trumpet. The slide no longer operative and the spring absent. An elaborately embossed bell garland, mainly of foliage but embodying a single shiled: an elaborate triple boss with embossed floral decoration terminating in short fluted garnishes. Three spirally fluted garnishes, two on the mouthpiece and one on the middle pipe. Mouthpiece with plated rim. Dates of conversion conjectural, but probably mid-late 19th century. The associated mouthpiece not original, and seemingly an early cornet mouthpiece.
