Toy piano
A small box made of softwood decorated with floral printed paper. Diatonic keyboard of ten notes (c to e, sounding approximately f3 to a4). The softwood keylevers are painted white where exposed with painted dummy accidentals. On a wooden frame over the tails of the keys ten strips of tin-plate are fixed like glockenspiel bars. They rest on two lengths of twine and are loosely located by nails. The action is a rudimentary Stossmechanik; blocks on the keytails flick bare wooden hammers upwards to the bars. The hammers are attached to small hinged flaps glued to a rail at the back of the keyboard.
