Method of hair tightening: simple screw mechanism, no ferrule. Stick: made of ?pernambuco, dark brown; cross section round, octagonal for only c.15mm at frog end; no grip, padding or wiring. Head: facing: plain; rectangular plug; triangular plane, swan-like. Frog: made of ivory; rectangular plane, narrowing towards the middle; screw cap is made of ivory, conical shape; screw made of iron; eyelet of brass. The stick was probably longer originally, and the screw cap is not original.
