Bow

Method of hair tightening: simple screw mechanism, no ferrule. Stick: made from dark brown slightly reddish, varnished, ?pernambuco; cross section octagonal along entire length; no wrapping at frog. Head: c. 1820–30; facing: ebony strip embracing the tip; almond shape, rather massive (33x14); trapezoid plane; triangular plug. Frog: c. 1820; made of solid ebony; mother-of-pearl eye on both sides; rectangular plane with c-shape inner undercut; rear edge rounded; rear end has trapezoid cross-section; screw cap made of ebony, octagonal cross-section; screw made of iron; eyelet of brass.
