Method of hair tightening: simple screw mechanism, no ferrule. Stick: made of pernambuco, dark brown; cross section round, octagonal for c. 190mm at frog end, in silver wire area octagonal; wrapped at frog with a thin metal wire and a small black leather padded grip. Head: facing: ivory strip embracing the tip; trapezoid plane. Frog: made of ivory; rectangular plane with c-shape undercutting; rear cross-section waisted in the middle; there was a ‘bed’ for the hair but at some point a thin piece of wood has been added in order to keep the hair flatter and slightly higher; screw cap made of ivory; screw made of iron; eyelet of brass.
