Bow

Method of hair tightening: simple screw mechanism, no ferrule. Stick: of exotic wood, probably pernambuco, dark brown with a hint of dark red; cross section round, octagonal only in the frog area, visible for c. 100mm beyond binding; thread winding (violin string), brown leather grip. Head: facing: ivory strip; trapezoid plane; contour of outer edge is enhanced by extra strip of ebony; also there is a cut across the head which is probably to mount the hair more securely; trapezoid plug. Frog: made of ivory; parallelogram plane with a inner c-shape undercut and rear corner with typical Dodd wavelet; slightly tapered toward the middle; screw cap made of ivory with octagonal cross section; screw made of iron; eyelet of brass.
