rattle

Rattle made of two bent wood circular hoops, one smaller than other, of triangular cross section, finally dowelled and joined, painted red on the outside surface with puffin bills, and green/blue on the other surface. The handle is painted red to match one side, and partially painted green/blue on the other. The handle consistes of a two piece cross, wrapped with strips of cotton? cloth in the centre, the bindings countersunk where they meet the hoop. The centre binding also includes sinew, with a peg? To the red side of the rattle are attached numerous puffin bills, pierced near the tip, and sewn and hung with sinew. Additional struts of baleen are used to hold the two hoops apart.
