darabukka

Drum ('darabuka' or 'tarabuka'), earthenware, red body, wheel-thrown, a conical stem expanding into a bowl. Applied with coloured slips in yellow, green and brown, combed or pulled to form a pattern, the exterior covered all over with a clear glaze, yellow border at base. The top covered with a pigskin membrane glued and bound with twine.
