Sonaja
Cylinder-shaped, vessel rattle topped with a cross. Handle, cross, top and bottom of cylinder are made of pine (Pinus sp.), and cylinder shell is made of Chihuahuan ash (Fraxinus papillosa). Used by the shaman of the Tarahumara tribe during their ceremonies to ward off evil spirits.
