back: 2 pieces sycamore, moderately arched, gracefully recovered at edge; studs at top rh of midline, at bottom lh; purfling mostly white, carried in a continuous curve around the button; edges painted black. Belly: 2 pieces pine purfled like the back, with black edges; flame soundholes (80mm). Ribs: plain wood; endpin ebony; 7 ivory pins for the sympathetic strings. Tailpiece: ebony, fingerboard ebony veneer. Pegs: 14 ebony, rather crude, with ivory studs protruding (1 rosewood replacement, others missing). chinrest and bridge modern. Varnish: clear rich reddish-gold. Inside: linings, corner blocks, a strip of parchment along the midline of the back. Length 760, body 388, width 175/122/218, depth 50, fingerboard 255
