back: 2 pieces of faint-flamed sycamore, varnished warm brown. Ribs: similar to back. Belly: 2 pieces of pine, ?originally painted black; soundhole, 72 diameter, containing a vellum rose; lower peg-box has 11 pegs (?for 4 double courses and 3 single strings): those for the 2 highest are in a little compartment of their own; nut: ivory, 16 grooves, originally round; pegs: oak, with ebony and ivory studs in the ends.
