Violin.

Technical description: Soundboard of spruce; back, ribs, head and neck of sycamore; endpin bridge, fingerboard and pegs of ebony; endpin and tail-gut protector (both not original) of ebony. The instrument follows the general shape and has many characteristics on early 19th century guitars. The soundboard is of two pieces, joined in the treble section rather than the centre. Sound-holes are gently curved, following the side of the instrument (C shape) and are edged with ebony and ivory. Originally used a pin holder glued on top of the soundboard. Arch of soundboard 15mm. Purfling of ebony, ivory and mother-of-pearl. Natural varnish. One piece back, arch 12.5mm, purfling of ebony, ivory and mother-of-pearl as the soundboard. Back and sides are of well figured wood, the back figure rising from left to right. Plugged hole on back at the bottom. Neck and head of one piece, neck 130 long; fingerboard length 260, width at nut 21.8, at bottom 42.0. Scroll reversed, going towards the back instead of the soundboard.
