Bugle. Nominal pitch: 4½-ftB♭.
Technical description: Unfinished hydraulic expansion moulded 2-coil model. This method of making bugles (and parts of other instruments) was developed as an alternative to bending tubes by hand. Instead, prepared tube is fitted loosely in a mould and expanded to the correct external profile by water at high pressure.
