Cornet. Nominal pitch: B♭-A.
Technical description: Silver-plated brass. Long bell projecting forwards, the bell-pipe with a simple bow rather than a shepherd's crook wrap. With auxiliary slide (shunt for A) with non-adjustable stop rod to limit travel. The water-key has a compression spring under the touchpiece. With fitting for music card-holder. The 1st and 3rd valves have detachable spacers on each leg for use in low pitch or in A.With bit, length 48, which may be more to allow use with a mouthpiece with a smaller stem than for tuning. Valve type: 3 Périnet valves, top-sprung, alignment by key on piston., Repair History: Two neatly-done patches on bell adjacent to the stays to the valve cluster.
