Oak, stained black with iron strap hinges. Lid originally vaulted, now flat. Compass FF–c''', no Fsharp. 3-octave span: 474. One set of 8' strings. The lowest jack faces towards the player. This instrument is the only surviving example of Robert Hatley’s work.
