Spike fiddle (part)
This object was collected in the field by Reverend H. K. Banks, around 1910. This wooden stick is probably part of a small one-string, spike fiddle, in which a resonator body would be inserted in the tapered section (spike) and the hole (located in the neck) would have a friction tuning peg. If this was collected in Uganda, it could be part of an Endingidi fiddle, in which in which the resonator is made of a wooden tube, covered on one end by an animal skin soundtable.
