Clarinet

Clarinet made of ebonite, in three sections (short barrel, body and small flared wooden bell) with nickel-silver ferrules and keywork. It has 18 cylinder- and saltspoon-cup keys (four ring keys, closed third and sixth keys), mounted in posts with rods, with flat and needle springs attached to keys and posts. The throat A-key has a coiled spring, the A-flat key is straight, and there are three keys to be used with the left thumb on the back. The ebonite mouthpiece is original, having a metal tenon that makes part of the adjustable barrel. There is an unsigned nickel-silver ligature. Nominal pitch: C.
