Clarinet in E-flat
This instrument was damaged by bomb shrapnel during the First World War (1914-1918). It is a clarinet made entirely of ebonite in four sections (barrel, upper joint, lower joint, and bell) with nickel-silver ferrules and keywork. It has thirteen cylinder-cup keys, mounted in posts with rods, with flat and needle springs attached to keys and posts. There is a brille key at the lower joint (ring-key), a straight throat A-flat key, and the register key is on the front of the body. The tenons are wrapped in thread. It has an ebonite mouthpiece. Nominal pitch: E-flat.
