Double bell

This instrument was collected in the field by either Percy Horace Gordon Powell-Cotton in Cameroon between 1931-32 or by his colleague Fred Merfield at some point in the 1930s. It is a handheld, clapperless double bell made of iron alloy, which is struck with an external beater, usually made of wood. The bells are attached by an arched woven handle made of rattan.
