Clarinet

This instrument is associated with Bandmaster Pay of the Leicestershire Regiment. It is a clarinet made of ebonite, in four sections (barrel, upper joint, lower joint, and bell) with nickel-silver ferrules and keywork. It has thirteen cylinder-cup keys, plus three ring keys and a closed-key for the fifth fingerhole, all mounted in posts with rods, with flat and needle springs attached to keys and posts, and cork paddings. The tenon joints are tipped with metal, and the socket joint in body is lined with metal. Clinton key system. The mouthpiece is made of ebonite and has a silver-plated ligature and a nickel-silver mouthpiece cap. Nominal pitch: B-flat.
