Clarinet. Nominal pitch: A, Albert opera model. Cocuswood with German silver ferrules, thumb rest and keywork. Five pieces: mouthpiece, barrel, left hand joint, right hand joint integral with lower joint, bell. There is a separate key for the middle register B-flat operated automatically by a speaker key. There is a duplicate G-sharp/D-sharp for left hand fourth finger, an articulated G-sharp, Barret action and a crossover middle G-sharp key. The mouthpiece has a metal ligature and a reed. Left hand joint is stamped: 'JACQUES ALBERT/ FILS/ BRUSSELS/LONDON/PATENT', with two star emblems. This is one of a pair with the clarinet in B-flat Horniman Museum number 1973.340, with which it shares a case.
