Clarinet
Clarinet. Nominal pitch B-flat, Albert Opera Model. Cocuswood with German silver ferrules, thumb rest and keywork. Five pieces: mouthpiece, barrel, left hand joint, right hand joint integral with lower joint, bell. There is a separate key for middle register B-flat operated automatically by a speaker key. There is a duplicate G-sharp/D-sharp for left hand fourth finger, an articulated G-sharp, Barret action, crossover middle G-sharp and low E-flat key. Metal-lined joints. The mouthpiece has a metal ligature and a reed. The barrel joint is stamped: 'JACQUES ALBERT/FILS', the upper joint stamped: 'JACQUES ALBERT/ FILS/ BRUSSELS/LONDON/PATENT'. Both inscriptions incorporate two star emblems. One of a pair with clarinet in A Horniman Museum number:1973.339, with which it shares a case.
