Handbell; ghanti
Ghanti, handbell. The bell is bronze of circular cross-section, with a flared base, and a gently sloping crown. There is a wide flange near the crown around the circumference of the bell's principle axis. There are three bands in relief near the base. The handle is surmounted by a circular platform with a representation of Nandi, the bull of the god Shiva. The large, bulbous clapper is attached to a loop integral to the handle on the bell's interior.
