Clarinet
Clarinet. Nominal pitch: both B-flat and A. Dalbergia melanoxylon (African blackwood, granadilla) body with nickel silver-plated ferrules and keys. Five pieces: mouthpiece (missing), barrel, left hand joint, integral right hand/lower joint, bell. Simple system fingering. A concentric nickel silver-plated double tube inside each joint is turned to change the clarinet key between B-flat and A. Keys have circular cups and leather pads. Much of the keywork is missing. Upper joint and lower joint are stamped: JAMES CLINTON/PATENT/117; Reverse side of lower joint also stamped: MADE IN BELGIUM.
