Fiddle; clog fiddle
Clog fiddle used by sailors on the Maas (Meuse) river. The back and sides made of a wooden clog (of elm?), spruce pine table with C-shaped soundholes. Violin neck with integral peg-box and scroll finial, the wood stained and varnished a dark brown colour. Violin fingerboard, bridge, tailpiece and endpin. Four strings, the two lower strings overwound, the upper ones plain wire.
